This past weekend, my mom (who blogs at Our Creekside Castle) and I went to a new funky furniture place that was suggested to me by my good friend Krista (who blogs at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom) called The Vintage Source in Maryland.
The Vintage Source is a pretty neat place. It's pretty much a giant room filled with refurbished antique furniture, art, home accents, and jewelry. The kicker? They're only open one weekend a month-- the other three weekends, they hunt down and refurbish the pieces.
I didn't take any photos at the store, which is a bummer, because the walls are made of vintage doors and there were so many pretty things. I will definitely devote another post to a future visit because I will definitely be going back.
After our Garmin had us go the wrong direction and attempt to off-road into someone's backyard, we eventually found this place. The selection was limited, as it was Sunday (I'm betting the Saturday selection is much better), and the women working there were nice as can be.
The pieces were priced fairly, in my opinion. As a girl who has been spoiled rotten with luck finding awesome pieces for $10 at Goodwill, it was hard for me to part with the $210 that got me this bad boy. But I am justifying the purchase because
1) It's already painted white to match my china cabinet.
2) It's a real antique, not an old mass-produced Thomasville piece from the 60's (which seems to be my furniture forte.)
3) I do need a piece to store more china and crystal in.
4) It's just so dang cool!
Here it is in my dining room!
The robin's egg blue definitely doesn't mesh with my dark gray walls. I'm going to wallpaper the back in the same wallpaper used on my china cabinet-- Heritage Duck Egg.
My mom and I think the casters are original to the cabinet.
(forgive my dirty floor-- yuck!)
I think, once upon a time, it did have a center door, because there's a bit of a lip on the left side of the opening. But I like it without. Makes it different.
Hope you all are having a wonderful 3-day weekend!

Looks great (and really goes well with your china cab)! $210 for an antique is still a steal!
