Diet and Weight Loss Update

By request!  And thanks for requesting, because I really have been meaning to write a post on this.

I've been on the Weight Watchers PointsPlus program for 9 weeks now.

(And let's be real.  I've really taken about 3 of those weeks off from the plan, just because of weird circumstances or laziness or whatever.)

I've lost a total of (DRUMROLLLLLL)

14 pounds!

For only having been on the program for 6 real weeks, that's not bad at all, in my opinion.

I track online, I do not do meetings.  I also use the Weight Watchers PointsPlus Android app to calculate and track on the go.  It's very convenient.

A typical food day looks like this:

Morning: Kellogg's FiberPlus bar, coffee with nonfat creamer (4 pts)
Midmorning snack: Banana (0 pts)
Lunch: Lean Cuisine, Dannon Light & Fit yogurt, baby carrots (about 8-10 pts)
Afternoon snack: Kashi dark chocolate and oatmeal cookie, apple (3 pts)
Dinner: Morningstar Farms veggie burger, steamed broccoli (7 pts)
Dessert: Skinny Cow or Slim-a-Bear ice cream bars (3 or 4 pts each)

As you can see, I eat a lot of processed foods.  I hate cooking.  But eating fewer processed foods is on my to-do list.
Anyone have any tips for me?  How do you incorporate more fresh foods?

Mr. D and I did buy an elliptical from Craigslist and we're getting a lot of use out of it.  I haven't used it in about a week because I have a pretty bad cough lingering from last week's flu but I am actually excited to get back in the routine.  It's so much easier to work out when I don't have to drive anywhere!  I love it!

We also have a P90X DVD.  It scares me.  I am too terrified to try it.  Everyone I've talked to says I will literally die... or wish I had.
Have you used P90X?  What do you think about it?

So yeah.  I've lost 14 pounds!  Just 48 more pounds to go...

that sounds so depressing!

  1. I've been thinking about trying out WW but I'm too cheap to actually pay for the service! haha But seriously my Aunt lost 105 pounds on it so it's definitely doable for you! Do you have a website you go to for points list or anything? GOOD LUCK!

  2. I've also been thinking about joining WW. Do you do the meetings or just the online portion?

Congrats on your success, 14 pounds is wonderful!

  4. Mrs D! 14 lbs in 6 weeks rocks! You rock! They way I think of it is that it took me a while to gain it, so it is better to take a while to lost it!

I eat a pretty much fresh diet, mostly because I love to cook, but also becasue I get a CSA box delivered and so I always have new and interesting things to try (http://www.localharvest.org/csa/)... that said, to be healthier, I think what I need to do is stop covering everything in cheese.

And P.S. Thanks for posting... whoever suggested a post about WW must be super cool ;)

  5. Congrats!! I am a firm believer in WW. I like the new points (especially with free fruits and veggies), but I haven't had as much success with the new system as I did with the old.

You're right that incorporating fresh foods is hard-- at least it is for me since I don't cook very much either. But, I try to incorporate salads, since they don't require much work (or dirty dishes). Add a little canned chicken or tuna, and it's a totally respectable meal. :)
