My Apologies

So... I took an impromptu vacation from blogging.

I love coming home and reading everyone's cheerful and interesting blog posts, but I guess I'm feeling a little overwhelmed with this difficult school year and all we have left to do on the house.  I just feel like I have no time and nothing interesting going on that's worth sharing.

One extremely destructive habit I can't seem to resist when I start feeling blue: shopping. So stay tuned for lots of "clothes I've recently bought" posts.

Mr. D's dad and uncle came to visit this last weekend, and we (meaning they) got a lot of work done on the house.  I mostly ate Laughing Cow cheese and assorted crackers.

Our downstairs bathroom had some serious water damage issues from a water heater explosion before we bought the house.  We decided wallpaper was the best way to camoflage any weird wall bumps.  Mr. D and his dad installed a chair rail and new baseboards.
Paint: Glidden "Clay Bisque"
Wallpaper: Heritage Duck Egg

We didn't have enough wallpaper to finish the job, so more is on the way.  Once we finish it, I plan on staining the cabinets a darker brown, replacing the faucet and knobs, and spraypainting the light fixture.  A long-term goal is to eventually install hardwood in here.

Mr. D's uncle bought us a beautiful forged bronze chandelier for the dining room.
Much prettier than brass!

Mr. D's dad also bought us a beautiful dining table for $100 from Craigslist!

I made a little mailbox planter from some leftover stones I found in the backyard.

One more thing:
Remember this end table from, um, March?

It looks like this now.
You can also see the color we painted the front living room last week behind this table.
Paint (wall): MSL "Spanish Moss."

I plan on participating on Top 2 tomorrow, and getting back into the swing of writing posts!
Hope you all survived your Monday!

  1. I love the way you painted your end table, it looks perfectly shabby chic and pretty! I do the same thing when I feel blue- shopping! I should work on that. Haha.
