If It's Yellow, Let It Mellow

At first, I was hesitant to buy into the whole end of the world mentality
 of this storm.

I live in Virginia and have been conditioned to believe that weather goes like this:

OMG
THIS IS COMING
FREAK OUT IMMEDIATELY
And then we get a sprinkle or two.  Same thing goes with snow (for the most part--we do get a decent blizzard every decade or so.)

But then I listened to the TV and radio and got a little nervous so I figured, what the heck, best to be prepared.
So I went to Target (which looks as if the looting has already begun) and got:
-a ton of granola bars and snack foods
-some bottled water (even though we have city water.. genius)
-new flashlight that runs on AA batteries because D batteries are SO HOT RIGHT NOW and nowhere to be found
-candles.

And then I took a closer look at the ol' weather map and got disgruntled.
The white star is my approximate location.  And yes, you're reading this right.  1 to 3 inches of rain.  Winds up to 40 mph.  Maaaybe flooding.  Maaaybe power outages.

I'm not impressed.

1 to 3 inches of rain?  Reeeally?

If the power goes out, it will suck, and I do worry about how long it will take for the power company to restore power when so many areas aside from ours will be out of power also.

But oh well!  I'll look on the bright side- perhaps a power outage is what I need to be productive... no Bravo to watch means I could do all the school planning I've been putting off.

So all you other people in yellow, CTFO.  Stop having breakdowns in Target because there are no more Oreos (I saw this happen.)  This probably isn't going to be a freakout situation.

Now I'm knocking on wood.  :)

See you on the other side of Irene!
