I know I've been absent for quite some time now. I've been reading all your blogs on and off, but not really participating. Many of my real-life friends and family have asked me why I stopped blogging, and the answer is simple-- I went back to work! School has been going well. I am enjoying it, but kind of waiting for the other shoe to drop. We shall see how it plays out. I have also been playing with cameras a lot. I helped my grandpa and BFF photograph a wedding, and I'll be doing my first solo portrait session this week.
I still haven't replaced my keyboard. I'm typing on the rubber nubs, and it's sooo annoying. My computer runs really slow, too. Plus, with the new budget Mr. D and I are working on, browsing through beautiful things feels salt in the monetary wound. Didn't I say my absence had a simple explanation?
But either way, I am going to dedicate more time to writing, reading, and commenting. I've missed it quite a bit.
So can I tell you a long, involved, self-indulgent story, littered with beautiful home photos?
I thought so!
The year Mr. D and I met, we went out in Cleveland Park, a small neighborhood of Washington DC. We were headed to a bar to watch the Red Sox play one of series games. Parking was truly heinous (welcome to the city!) and we ended up parking far up a residential street.
As we walked to the bar, down this long street, the air was perfectly chilly and it was just after dark. The homes on this street were perfectly lit up, with pumpkins on their stoops. Giant windows showed families at dinner tables, beautiful decor, and again, lots of light. I was on love with this neighborhood, and told Mr. D right away.
Ever since then we've talked about moving to this street as kind of an idyllic goal, not really thinking about how much one of these homes would actually cost or if we could ever manage living in the city.
Last week, on a whim, I searched for properties on this street, expecting nothing. I was surprised to see one, especially one as perfect as this! Selling for $2.3 million!
So, there you have it. My life's goal costs $2.3 million (during a recession-- gah!). To look on the bright side, at least now I have serious motivation to stick to the new budget! Until then, I'll be peeking at these photos and doing a lot of wishful thinking.
If you want to see or find out more about my dream house, check out the home's Trulia page here.
