After a lot of thinking, we are making a difficult decision.
We are saying goodbye to Bayley.
We are saying goodbye to Bayley.
We adopted Bayley two years ago as our first pet. He was 3, and came with some serious aggression issues that we weren't aware of. We worked with a trainer from the rescue shelter, and we saw improvements with Bayley's aggression, but he continues to suffer from sporadic aggressive outbursts. He has bitten both Mr. D and I, and pretty much anyone who ever visited us, on many occasions. Our fear is that living in a neighborhood with lots of kids, he may bite someone and have to be put down.
This upcoming week will be our last week with Bayley before returning him to rescue organization. There, he'll get more focused aggression training with an experienced trainer and hopefully find a new family that's better prepared to continue his training. It's going to be hard to say goodbye to him, but we gave him a good home for two years and we know this is the best decision for him in the long run.
It's going to be a tough week...
It's going to be a tough week...

This is heartbreaking but also understandable. Good luck this week :)

ReplyDeleteOh dear, I'm so sorry to hear you have to do that. I can't imagine what a heartbreaking decision that was. :( No words to say here for you, just know you are in my thoughts.
ReplyDeleteOh, and as for the tagged game, that looks pretty fun. I am heading for bed tomorrow, but can't wait to fill in all my blanks when I get home tomorrow!
Take care darlin! :)
Oh my goodness. That must have been really hard, but it sounds like you made the right decision.
